A special week for Brazil in Amsterdam

Speaking of Brazil, Amsterdam’s cultural agenda of this coming week is rich of events. It presents at least two important happenings for the Brazilian culture abroad, as well as for the enrichment of the Dutch multicultural society. The week begins - not in Amsterdam, but in Wassenaar - on Monday, the 10th of September, with the traditional reception hosted by the Brazilian Ambassador to celebrate the Brazilian Independence day (actually, Independece day is on the 7th of September). Back to Amsterdam, on Tuesday the 11th begins the Cine Brasil in the Tropen Theater: a festival showing the new Brazilian film production, presenting an excellent list of recent Brazilian movies for the whole week. Finally, on Saturday, the 15th, the Bimhuis will shine with the second edition of the BRAZILIAN SUMMER SESSIONS by A Hora do Brasil Foundation, this time presenting the Chorinho of Trio Madeira Brasil. As the creator and one of the producers - together with Claudia Trajano - of the project of the Brazilian Summer Sessions, and as director of the A Hora do Brasil, I believe that all these events around Brazil coming together mean that our work is really expanding and becoming stronger. This gives all of us, working with projects around Brazil in the Netherlands, a chance of visiting, promoting and praising each events and each other's work - only made possible by the hard work of small groups of talented and determined people. I congratulate the girls of Cine Brasil and I congratulate us: the girls - and the two guys - of A Hora do Brasil Foundation: Claudia, Júlia, Luana, Babette, Harry, Miguel (and me)! Cheers!
